A new study designed to investigate how a patient’s COVID-19 ICU hospitalization affects the mental health of family members is currently under way at South Shore Hospital.

Made possible by a nearly $142,000 grant from the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, these modified rooms are calming, controlled spaces aimed at reducing stress, agitation, and anxiety for patients, particularly those who are neurodivergent or on the autism spectrum.

This award recognizes South Shore Medical Center for achieving exceptional results in its approach to disease prevention and the treatment of acute and chronic illness for both pediatric and adult patients.
