Office of Research
The Office of Research at South Shore Health supports the execution and management of investigator-initiated and sponsor funded clinical research across the hospital in both in-patient and out-patient settings.
With the aim of promoting quality research, the following are an overview of services offered to South Shore Health investigators, sponsors and study teams:
- Budget preparation, negotiation and maintenance
- Contract development and data/specimen/collaborative agreements
- Data collection support
- Education and training for research staff
- Liaise with ancillary services and sponsors
- Quality assurance/quality improvement monitoring
- Regulatory support and reporting
- Research coordinator on-going support
- Site monitoring
- Source documentation development

The Principal Investigator (PI) must be a South Shore Health employee or a member of the Medical Staff with an advanced or terminal degree, or serve as an RN operating within the scope of practice. Students and external collaborators are not eligible to serve as a PI and must designate a PI who meets the required criteria.
