Our Commitment to Your Safety

Body

We understand the coronavirus pandemic has made many people nervous about seeking out routine and emergency care. Don’t delay care for health issues because you are worried about entering a healthcare facility.

Whether you’re in the South Shore Hospital Emergency Department for a critical need, bringing your child in for a vaccination at South Shore Medical Center, or need urgent care at Health Express, we’ve made changes to our policies, procedures, and physical layout to keep you safe.

Visitor policy changes

For the safety of our patients, colleagues, and community, a modified visitor policy is in effect at all South Shore Health locations. Learn more about our current visitor policy and our virtual visitation option.

Safety Employees Screening graphic

Employee and patient screening

Every South Shore Health colleague, visitor, or patient is screened for COVID-19 symptoms before entering our patient-facing facilities. If they are symptomatic, they will receive appropriate medical care.

Safety Masks graphic

Masks must be worn

Patients, staff, and visitors must wear masks when in the presence of others at all South Shore Health facilities. If you do not have a mask, we will provide one.

Safety Cleaning graphic

Increased cleaning

We’ve stepped up our already rigorous cleaning practices, cleaning all high-touch surfaces regularly. We’ve taken toys and magazines out of our waiting areas, so please bring your own.

Safety Distance graphic

Social distancing

We’re making it easy to maintain social distancing at every location by marking high-traffic areas to indicate appropriate social distance, and more.

Don’t let issues become emergencies

If you are experiencing chest pain, new weakness in an arm or leg, or skin discolorations, call 911. South Shore Hospital’s Emergency Department is still open for serious health emergencies.

For minor illnesses and injuries, such as broken bones, asthma, abdominal pain, pneumonia, lacerations, cuts, or fractures, Health Express urgent care is a safe and convenient option.
