If being more active, building strength and boosting your energy level is on your summer to do list, South Shore Health has a fitness class to fit your needs and budget.

Our Community Exercise Program offers a variety of classes – on land, in the pool and virtually – that can help you increase strength and cardiovascular endurance, improve body composition, and build better balance.

“Summer is a great time to start a healthy new routine," said program manager Jennifer Logan.  "And if you sign up now through Sept. 1, you can save 15% on any of our fitness classes."

In addition to popular programs like Core and More, Movement and Balance, Joint Motion and Flexibility and Fit for You, we have a robust aquatic conditioning program with classes designed to ease arthritis pain, increase stamina and improve flexibility.  And we’ve recently added new sessions of our popular prenatal pool classes for moms to be.

“Variety is one of the great things about our program,” Logan said.

“We have traditional fitness classes, pool classes and online classes that you can log in to on your laptop and do in your living room.”

Led by exercise therapists in small group settings, our exercise programs are suited for all ages and ability levels, Logan said.

“As a manager and a clinician, I can speak to the level of expertise of our instructors and the benefits of a program that can be tailored to participants’ strengths and abilities,” she said.

“We are able to modify the exercises so class members can progress at their own pace and see individual gains at any fitness level.”

Beyond the physical benefits, Logan said class members enjoy the camaraderie and social connections they make through the program.

“Exercise boosts your mood and energy level so you can be more productive throughout the day,” she said.

Having a variety of class times throughout the day adds to the convenience of the program.

“If you want to work out before work, mid-day or after work, you can find a class that fits your schedule.”

The program also offers hybrid sessions of some classes, that you can attend in person or virtually.
