Therapeutic Pools to Help the Healing Process
Aquatic therapy can be an excellent solution for patients dealing with injuries or neurological/orthopedic issues that cause pain, weakness, weight-bearing restrictions, swelling, or changes in muscle tone.
Aquatic therapy combines traditional exercise with the buoyancy of water to enhance and accelerate the rehabilitation process.
At South Shore Health, our aquatic therapy program features two different pools at South Shore Hospital.
Our facility features one warm (92°) pool and one cool (82°) pool, allowing us to tailor an exercise program to meet each patient's specific needs.
Each pool is accessible by stairs and a chair lift. Our facility also features locker rooms, showers, and a family-assisted dressing area.
How can I get aquatic therapy?
A doctor's order specifying pool therapy is needed to initiate the process.
Once you have that order, our team will work with you to develop a therapy plan that will meet your needs and help you reach your goals.
Prior to your first appointment, our team will reach out to you to discuss what you should bring and what to expect at your first session.
COVID-19 restrictions
Due to COVID-19, our aquatic therapy program is limited to adult patients only. We hope to resume our pediatric aquatic therapy once it is safe to do so.
