I chose family medicine so that I could treat a wide spectrum of medical conditions and so that I could treat all ages, including newborns and multiple generations, in one family. This helps me to treat the whole person because knowing a person's social background is essential. While we do not have the same visibility to the patient as their primary care provider or surgeon, pathologists are an integral part of every patient's health care team, assuring that their physicians have accurate and timely pathology and laboratory data on which to act.
