Breastfeeding Support

South Shore Health encourages and supports breastfeeding as the optimal choice for your baby. (Should you choose to use formula, we will support you in that decision too!)

At South Shore Hospital, each member of our nursing staff is trained to help you establish breastfeeding. Should you require support, our lactation consultants are available to provide additional help to you, even after you go home.

We are proud to offer a wide range of support services for breastfeeding mothers.

Don’t Go It Alone

Mom and a lactation consultant talking

Breastfeeding can be difficult, even for experienced moms. We are proud to offer a free breastfeeding support group. The group is staffed by trained lactation consultants, and you’ll get to socialize with other moms. You do not have to have given birth at South Shore Hospital to attend. The group is held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1 - 2 PM at South Shore Hospital. Learn more.
