Volunteering
Volunteers play key roles across South Shore Health, including assisting in clerical work and helping patients and family members navigate through our facilities.
Our volunteers truly make a difference in the lives of our caregivers, our patients, and their families.
Interested in volunteering at South Shore Health?
Because volunteers play an important role in providing patients and families with an optimal experience, our volunteer selection and orientation process is thorough.
Volunteer candidates are encouraged to contact Katie Howard at khoward [at] southshorehealth.org (khoward[at]southshorehealth[dot]org) for an application and more information.
All applicants must be 16 years of age or older at the time of the application’s submission.
We ask our volunteers to commit to a minimum of one four-hour shift per week and 60-100 hours of volunteer service per year to be considered for a volunteer assignment.
Please note that we have a limited amount of evening/weekend shifts.
In addition, we do offer a limited number of “summer only” volunteer opportunities. The deadline for "summer only" volunteer applications is April 1.
All applications are reviewed by a volunteer program staff member to determine whether an interview should be scheduled based on current volunteer needs. At times, applicant volume can be high and/or volunteer needs can be low.
Thank you for your interest. Our volunteers truly make a difference in the lives of our caregivers, our patients, and their families!
