There are some great benefits to introducing your infant son or daughter to the deep water right from the get go. Water Tots is a new venture for our community exercise programs here at South Shore Health.

An instructor will take you and your 4-month-old to 12-month-old through a specialized swim training program to get your infant comfortable with his or her surroundings in the water.

"I want it to be fun, but this is also a great way to learn some functional movements in the water at a very young age," said Alexander Machado, a rehab aid/exercise therapist at South Shore Hospital.

Machado tailors the class to get your baby using their legs and arms at the same time, all while making the water a safe and comfortable environment for parent and baby. The classes are offered on Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
