Two pillars of the South Shore and a team who gives their heart and soul to so many families will be honored at the 7th annual Luminaria on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at 6 p.m. at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy.

Luminaria is a special dinner event designed to raise support for South Shore Health's Home and Community Care Division.

Bob and Donna Pineau and the South Shore VNA Parent Child Health team are this year’s recipients of a unique Luminaria medallion honoring our “Home Care Champions” to celebrate innovation and dedication to South Shore Health.

Bob and Donna have supported the health system for almost 20 years. Bob has been the President & CEO of Electro Switch Corp. – a leading manufacturer of electronic switches, relays, and photo controls – since 2001. He served nine years on the South Shore Health Foundation Board, and currently serves on the health system Board of Directors which includes his role as Chair of South Shore Health's Finance Committee.

“Both Donna and I are honored to be selected,” said Bob. “To receive an award at Luminaria and to be recognized by others in our community is certainly humbling. It makes you feel like you are doing something right.”

Bob and Donna have been married for more than 40 years and both continue to dedicate their time and energy to the health system and other charitable missions on the South Shore. Donna has dedicated her life’s work to nursing and is pursuing a PhD in Health Professions Education from Simmons College.

“I feel privileged to be a nurse and to be nominated with the Patient Child Health team,” Donna said.

“As a nurse, I know what it takes to go into someone’s home to bring compassionate care, education, and understanding to patients. To be brought into somebody’s life to care for them is the ultimate compliment. It is the ultimate act of trust.”

South Shore VNA’s Parent Child Health team consists of eight dedicated nurses who care for children and their parents in their time of need. The multidisciplinary team works with premature or drug-addicted babies, children undergoing cancer treatment, and children living with other illnesses and conditions.

“It is nice for our entire team to be recognized and appreciated for the work we are all so passionate about,” said Michele Solari, RN.

“Our team relies heavily on each other and have formed a strong bond. Our work is hard, but it is incredibly rewarding, because all we want is what is best for the children and their families.”

South Shore Health's highly-skilled team of home care professionals works hard to assure a safe home environment, proper management of medication and support for families caring for loved ones at home – from the beginning of life to the end of life.

Luminaria raises money to support providing these services at home, which play a vital role in lowering overall health care costs, minimizing complications, preventing multiple hospital stays for patients, and improving the quality of life for the people of our region.
