How to Support South Shore Health during COVID-19
In these unprecedented times, South Shore Health is once again the recipient of outreach, compassion, and generosity from a community that has supported our health system for generations. It is because of the unwavering giving spirit of our region that our hospital and health system is able to respond to the threat of COVID-19. We could not be more grateful.
We continue to receive offers for all forms of contributions. We are hearing the question “what can I do to help?”
Here's How to Help our Caregivers & Staff
Individuals and organizations can make a charitable donation in support of the COVID-19 response at South Shore Health.
To do so, please use the following links:

We have put together some guidelines on how you can help sew isolation gowns for us, which is currently our biggest need.
Please download the approved pattern online. The pattern requires you add it to your cart and create an account, but it is absolutely free. No credit card or other payment information is required.
The most efficient isolation gowns for us at this time are washable and reusable. Reusable isolation gowns are typically made of tight-woven 100% cotton, or a cotton-polyester blend. There is no required pattern for the fabric, but please try to use appropriate professional prints for our team. Please use new fabric, and do not use any microfiber material. Bed sheets are an acceptable fabric source.
A great way to purchase the material is online at JoAnn Fabrics, where you can use curbside pick-up at all locations. Please just call ahead to confirm the store is open!
We do not currently have the raw materials to distribute, but we will keep the community posted if that changes in the future.
South Shore Health is manufacturing face shields in-house. However, supplies for these masks are scarce.
We need donations of the following materials:
Elastic Latex Fabric
1" Wide
Super-Cushioning Polyurethane Foam Sheet
Adhesive-Back, 1" Thick
Moisture-Resistant Polyester Film
Clear, 25 Feet Long x 0.007" Thick x 40" Wide
For information, please email Jessica Symonds: JSymonds [at] southshorehealth.org (JSymonds[at]southshorehealth[dot]org)
South Shore Health is working hour-by-hour, day-to-day to manage our supplies to protect the safety of our staff and our patients. Our preference is always to use professionally-manufactured N95 masks and other surgical masks.
We appreciate offers to donate homemade masks. We are collecting them and saving them for use down the road, if necessary. Restrictions apply for all PPE donations.
For information, please email Jessica Symonds: JSymonds [at] southshorehealth.org (JSymonds[at]southshorehealth[dot]org)
Donating a gift card is a great way to help businesses in need while supporting South Shore Health staff impacted by this crisis. We will distribute gift cards to staff in need.
Purchase a gift card to a local grocery store, restaurant, pharmacy or gas station and mail it to: South Shore Health Foundation, 55 Fogg Road, South Weymouth, MA 02190 Attn: Katie Daly
For more information, please email Katie Daly: Cdaly [at] southshorehealth.org (Cdaly[at]southshorehealth[dot]org)
Please note: As of June 5, 2020, South Shore Health is no longer accepting food donations.
We cannot thank our community enough for their outpouring of support.
