Colleague Spotlight: Celebrating Phil Berrio!

Each month, South Shore Health gives the Colleague Spotlight Award to a colleague who demonstrates exemplary behaviors, actions, and/or work practices that reflect the values of South Shore Health.

We're pleased to announce that Phil Berrio is the recipient of the Colleague Spotlight Award for July!

Phil works on the Public Safety Team at South Shore Hospital - a place where he has worked for more than four decades.

Phil has always been known as someone who goes above and beyond for both patients and colleagues, but a recent incident stood out to Donna Hawkesworth, who is the Food Service Manager at the Hospital.

"I noticed that Phil would be coming through the dining room, coming through the cafe, and he would be buying this little boy ice cream and little treats out of his own pocket," she said. "Being a grandfather and a father, I think he...took to heart what he needed to do to make sure [the boy] was comfortable in every way."
