Colleague Spotlight: Celebrating Jake O'Brien!

Each month, South Shore Health gives the Colleague Spotlight Award to a colleague who demonstrates exemplary behaviors, actions, and/or work practices that reflect the values of South Shore Health.

We're proud to celebrate Jake O'Brien, RN as our Colleague Spotlight Award recipient for May!

Jake is a nurse on Pratt 3 at South Shore Hospital.

Recently, a patient wrote a thoughtful letter about Jake and his compassionate care, leading to his nomination for this recognition.

"Jake was extremely competent and helpful," the patient wrote. "If I needed anything, he was right on it. He always had a smile on his face, and he genuinely cares about his patients."

Lynn Wenners, MSN, RN, Nurse Manager - Pratt 3, praised Jake for his empathy, compassion, and kindness.

"He not only looks after the patients and their families, but his peers and his team too," she said. "Jake takes time in a friendly, kind manner to help patients understand the care they're receiving."

Jake, who was born at South Shore Hospital, enjoys working for the Health System where he received care as a child and praised his colleagues for always supporting one another.

"If there's something they don't know, I'm here to help," he said. "Same thing with me: if I don't know something, I don't hesitate to ask a question."
