South Shore Hospital, part of South Shore Health, has received an Innovator Award from the editors of Healthcare Innovation for its groundbreaking work in Clinical Pharmacy Practice by improving the medication reconciliation process.

For the fifth consecutive time, South Shore Hospital has earned an “A” safety grade rating from The Leapfrog Group, a designation that ranks the hospital among the safest in the Greater Boston area and the United States.

This is the fourth consecutive verification for South Shore Hospital. As a Level II Trauma Center, the hospital is equipped to handle all critical injuries, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The recognition allows South Shore Hospital to perform bariatric surgery on United Healthcare patients and confirms the Center for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery is clinically superior to other bariatric programs.

The magazine’s annual Top Doctors list includes hundreds of Boston/metro-area physicians from a wide range of medical specialties and is available on Boston magazine’s website.

The $5.3 million donation will help expand and support South Shore Hospital’s Emergency Department, emergency services, and programs.
