South Shore Hospital Ranked Among Top 10 Best Hospitals in Massachusetts by U.S. News & World Report

South Shore Health today announced that U.S. News & World Report has ranked South Shore Hospital among the state’s top ten Best Hospitals for the 2024-2025 reporting year. 

South Shore Hospital is ranked 7th in the Metro Boston area, 9th in Massachusetts, and is one of only two community-based hospitals ranked in the Top Ten in Massachusetts due to its ongoing high-quality, compassionate care.

U.S. News evaluated nearly 5,000 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions; only 11% of evaluated hospitals earned a Best Hospitals ranking. 

Hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care and patient experience.

In addition to making the U.S. News & World Best Regional Hospitals rankings, South Shore Hospital earned “High-Performance” scores in the adult specialties of Pulmonology & Lung Surgery, and Urology, as well as seven common adult procedures/conditions, including: 

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) 
  • Heart Attack
  • Heart Failure 
  • Hip Replacement
  • Kidney Failure 
  • Lung Cancer Surgery 
  • Pneumonia
