Good communication is always very crucial. During my free time I love to listen music, play guitar. Also, I like meditation, yoga/ pranayam. However, most importantly I love spending time with my family.

I am certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology. I received my BA in Biology at State University of New York at Buffalo and my MD from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. I did my residency in Medicine at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and Fellowship in Hematology-Oncology at University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, CT. I was recognized in Boston Magazine's 2017 Top Doctors list. Outside of work, I enjoy listening to classical music, traveling, running, and bicycling. 

As a family medicine trained hospitalist, I aim to maintain a coordinative approach to the care I give. I prioritize patient education in my treatment philosophy. 

My goal is to care for our patients as we would our loved ones: with expertise, compassion, and respect.

I grew up in the Chicago area and graduated from University of Chicago before moving to Boston for medical training at Boston University, followed by residency at Boston Medical Center.

I have been a hospitalist attending physician at South Shore Hospital since 2012. I married in 2006 and have two girls.

I enjoy taking care of my patients and including their families and the entire treatment team in the process. 

M. Reza Afrasiabi, MD

My mission is to provide every patient on the acute care surgery and trauma surgery services with the highest quality of care inside and outside of the operating room.

I was raised in Southern California and moved to Boston to complete my undergraduate degree in mathematics at MIT.  After completing general surgery residency in Chicago, I moved back to Boston to complete fellowships in Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery at the Brigham. I love the outdoors and spend my free time snowboarding and hiking throughout the northeast with my friends and family.
