​​​​​​​Each year, drowsy driving leads to tens of thousands of motor vehicle accidents across the United States. Unfortunately, those accidents result in hundreds of deaths.

According to the United States Centers for Disease Control (CDC), unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death in children aged 19 and younger. In fact, according to the Injury Free Coalition for Kids, 20 children die each day from preventable injuries.

A driver’s license is a symbol of freedom, an indicator that a teen is ready to hit the road and go wherever he or she wants to go. Unfortunately, for too many teens, driving can be deadly. Motor vehicle accidents are among the leading causes of death for teens in the United States.

South Shore Hospital's Trauma Center has also seen a significant increase in pedestrian accidents. Our team offers important tips for pedestrian safety.
