We have reached a remarkable milestone in the fight against COVID-19 with the delivery of vaccinations to health systems across Massachusetts and the country.

The state Department of Public Health has created allocation and distribution plans for the vaccine; there will be three phases. High-risk citizens will receive the vaccine first. This group includes clinical and non-clinical healthcare workers providing direct and COVID-facing care, and other high-risk groups.

South Shore Health’s frontline healthcare workers will be among the first to receive vaccinations because they are at high risk for contracting COVID-19.

As supplies increase, we will begin offering the vaccine to South Shore Health patients according to state and federal guidelines.

At this time, we are not scheduling appointments for COVID-19 vaccinations, nor are we creating a waiting list for future vaccinations.

We ask that you please refrain from calling to schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment.

This applies to all South Shore Health entities, including South Shore Medical Center and Health Express.

This is a profound and exciting time in our fight against COVID-19. But, for many, patience will be required as we await for supply to catch up with demand. We are grateful for your understanding.

For the latest information on South Shore Health’s COVID-19 vaccination plans, please visit our COVID-19 page. We will also update patients via our social media channels when new information becomes available.

We also encourage you to visit Mass.gov/COVID for more information on the vaccine distribution timeline, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for questions about the vaccine.
