In November, our Trauma Program Injury Prevention Team held our inaugural CarFit Driver Safety Event at 780 Main Street in Weymouth!

Developed by AAA, the AARP, and the American Occupational Therapy Association, CarFit offers free, personalized check-ups to help older drivers optimize their vehicles to meet their needs.

These check-ups assess critical factors such as seat positioning, mirror alignment, and steering wheel distance, improving both comfort and control while driving.

At our event, volunteers from our Injury Prevention, EMS, and Occupational Therapy Teams completed six CarFit checks!

Each check featured an in-depth discussion of vehicle safety features, a checklist review, recommendations for enhanced safety behind the wheel, and more.

In order to offer this event, our volunteers completed several hours of classroom and field training. We’re grateful for their dedication to supporting safe driving in our community!

Our Injury Prevention Team plans to offer another CarFit event in the spring – stay tuned for more details!
