Looking to be more active, build strength and boost your energy level this summer?  South Shore Health has fitness classes to fit your schedule and budget.

Our Community Exercise Program offers a wide array of classes – on land, in the pool and virtually – that can help you increase strength and cardiovascular endurance, improve body composition, and gain better balance.

In addition to popular programs like Core and More, Movement and Balance, and Fit for You, we have a robust aquatic conditioning program with classes designed to ease arthritis pain, increase stamina and improve flexibility.

Speaking of flexibility, we also offer virtual classes that allow you to work out from the comfort of home.

“Variety is one of the great things about our program,” said Community Exercise Program Manager Jennifer Logan.

“We have traditional fitness classes, pool classes and online classes that you can log in to on your laptop and do in your living room.”

Led by exercise therapists in small group settings, our exercise programs are suited for all ages and ability levels, Logan said.

“As a manager and a clinician, I can speak to the level of expertise of our instructors and the benefits of a program that can be tailored to participants’ strengths and abilities,” she said.

“We are able to modify the exercises so class members can progress at their own pace and see individual gains at any fitness level.”

Beyond the physical benefits, Logan said class members enjoy the camaraderie and social connections they make through the program.

“Exercise boosts your mood and energy level so you can be more productive throughout the day,” she said.

Having a variety of class times throughout the day adds to the convenience of the program.

“If you want to work out before work, mid-day or after work, you can find a class that fits your schedule.”

The program also offers hybrid sessions of some classes, that you can attend in person or virtually.

As we head into the summer season, now is a great time to start a new fitness routine, Logan said.
