Thanks to the advocacy of our Lactation Department, South Shore Hospital is supporting nursing moms in a new way – with the recent installation of a milkpod™ vending machine!

Located on Emilson 2 across from the elevators, milkpod™ is stocked with carefully selected items vetted by our lactation specialists and our obstetric and neonatal nurses. Items include breast pump supplies, bottles, and delicious treats that help support lactation.

“This vending machine provides convenient access to essential breastfeeding supplies for our nursing moms, especially our colleagues returning to work,” explains Michele O’Hara, DNP, RN, NE-BC, CLC, Nurse Manager of Mother Infant Unit, Lactation Department, and Childbirth Education program.

We are grateful to our Lactation Team and the leadership of Kathy Bruce, ACNO of Parent/Child Services for this progressive move that reflects our commitment to fostering an inclusive space for everyone in our healthcare community!
