Earlier today, South Shore Health's first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines arrived at South Shore Hospital, marking a milestone moment in the fight against COVID-19.

The shipment was received by Kris Young, Chief Pharmacy Officer/Executive Director - Laboratory Services, and Jason St. Amour, Pharmacy Operations Manager, who then moved the 1,950 doses of the Pfizer vaccine into an ultra-cold freezer for storage.

The vaccine will be stored in an ultra-cold freezer until it's ready for distribution.

Distribution of the vaccine to front-line personnel across South Shore Health will begin this week.

"I think the word 'unprecedented' has been used a lot," said Young. "It’s one small step, but a very significant step for us in this marathon we’re calling COVID-19."
