South Shore Health Postpones Select Inpatient Surgical Procedures
In response to the increase in hospitalizations due to coronavirus, the Massachusetts Department of Health and Human Services has updated the guidance to hospitals regarding non-emergency surgery.
If your surgery is affected, your surgeon’s office will reach out to you directly with more information.
This decision applies only to patients whose procedures can be delayed. Procedures that do not require an overnight hospital stay are not affected.
Screening procedures like mammograms and colonoscopies will continue. Please do not delay any screening tests you have scheduled.
As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we urge you to keep in touch with your surgeon’s office for updates on when your surgery will be rescheduled and how to stay healthy while you wait.
Emergency care, as always, is available 24 hours a day.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to keep our community healthy. Please continue to wear a mask, wash your hands, avoid gatherings, and stay at home whenever possible to help slow the spread and ease the strain on the Commonwealth’s healthcare system.
