The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) has confirmed that four South Shore Medical Center (SSMC), Norwell, Mass., colleagues are cleared to return to work after quarantine. By recommendation of the DPH, the employees were asked to stay at home as a measure of precaution. The action was taken when a presumptive positive test for COVID-19 was returned for a patient who sought treatment through urgent care at SSMC at the end of February. The privacy and confidentiality of this matter and these colleagues remain of utmost importance.

As always, the safety of our staff, patients and families is our highest priority. All patients who call to seek an appointment or who visit South Shore Health locations will be screened for COVID-19, per CDC guidelines. We encourage patients to contact their primary care provider if they have flu-like symptoms and/or a recent history of travel to countries identified by the government as having widespread coronavirus outbreak.

We remain committed to updating our community and staff with information related to COVID-19, just as we have since the outbreak began in December of 2019.
