South Shore Health is pleased to announce a record-setting $100,000 presenting sponsorship from Alan McKim for the upcoming South Shore Health Gala, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 17 at the Marriott Boston Quincy.

This extraordinary commitment marks the largest presenting sponsorship in the event’s history and highlights McKim’s continued dedication to advancing health care on the South Shore.

McKim’s latest gift builds on the ongoing generosity of the McKim Family Foundation – inclusive of a recent $5.3 million transformational gift to South Shore Hospital.

That philanthropic milestone is already fueling significant enhancements to the Emergency Department and Level II Trauma Center, which serve thousands of patients each year.

“A gift of this scale redefines what is possible for the gala, and for South Shore Health as a whole,” said Allen Smith, MD, MS, President and CEO of South Shore Health. “Alan’s profound impact can be felt across our entire health system, from emergency and cancer care to critical facility upgrades. His leadership and generosity set a powerful example and inspire our community to take action.”

Founder and former CEO of Clean Harbors and a longtime South Shore resident, McKim has supported South Shore Health for more than 17 years.

His philanthropy has helped drive many signature initiatives, including the Emerson building expansion, the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center at South Shore Health, and the Richard and Joann Aubut Critical Care Unit.

The McKim Family Main Entrance at South Shore Hospital stands as a testament to his family’s enduring generosity.

“Alan McKim is a true champion of South Shore Health’s mission to provide high-quality, compassionate, and connected care close to home,” said Lauren Spencer, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer, South Shore Health. “His record Gala sponsorship, along with his history of visionary giving, is an investment in our future and our community’s well-being.”

The South Shore Health Gala supports critical emergency and trauma services, including the emergency department, the Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) Program, and the trauma center.

With McKim’s extraordinary sponsorship, the 2025 Gala is poised to reach new heights in fundraising and impact.

Join us in making a difference! Every contribution supports South Shore Health’s commitment to delivering exceptional care when every second counts.
