Each month, South Shore Health gives the Colleague Spotlight Award to a colleague who demonstrates exemplary behaviors, actions, and/or work practices that reflect the values of South Shore Health.

We're thrilled to celebrate Laureen O'Hara, RN, BSN as the recipient of our Colleague Spotlight Award for February!

Laureen is a night shift nurse on Emerson 4 at South Shore Hospital and was nominated by Emerson 4 Nurse Manager Sandy Krall, RN.

"I nominated her because she's worked here for a long time, on the night shift specifically, which isn't always very easy," said Krall. "She's always willing to do charge when I need her to do charge. [She] always orients new staff members, whether they are experienced nurses just coming here as new hires or the new nursing graduates."

In addition to her outstanding work on a daily basis, Krall was inspired to nominate Laureen after recently receiving a letter from a patient who had been under Laureen's care.

"[Laureen's] bedside manner and explanation of that night's treatment was phenomenal," the letter read in part. "I could not have any better care anywhere!"

"She has a very caring and compassionate way about her," added Krall. "She's always coming from a place of positivity and goodness."

Thank you, Laureen, for your positive spirit and for your commitment to our patients and colleagues!
