Dr. O'Brien is Medical Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at South Shore Health. 

As a Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician, I am dedicated to caring for women and families navigating high-risk and medically complex pregnancies with expertise, compassion, and individualized attention. 

I strive to integrate evidence-based medicine with a holistic approach that recognizes the physical, emotional, and social factors that shape each patient’s experience. 

I am also committed to advocating for equitable healthcare and improving access and outcomes for marginalized and underserved communities.

I consider myself lucky to do something that I love. Children and teens are great at reminding adults about the little joys of life while also presenting us with various medical and behavioral challenges. I enjoy navigating these challenges with each family to find the right approach for their child. Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband and three (lovable and challenging) children. I enjoy running with my dog, biking, swimming, skiing, and occasionally a good day of yard work. 

My treatment focus is to ensure that each and every patient receives the best care and that their care plan is tailored to meet their individual needs and diagnosis. 

I believe that working with hematology and oncology patients is a calling and it is truly an honor to be a part of each patient’s care. It is extremely important that every patient have a treatment plan that fits their diagnosis and needs, and that this plan is communicated clearly with all members of the treatment team.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, hiking, and walking the beach.

My mission is to teach patients how better health habits can prevent many diseases.

It is a privilege to help people and establish long-term relationships with my patients. I believe that everyone's medical care should be individually tailored. We all have unique characteristics that need to be considered when deciding a treatment plan. Communication is paramount. Outside of work, I love exercising, working in my garden, and spending time at the Cape; however, most importantly I love spending time with my family.
 

My mission is to provide exceptional care to hematology and oncology patients, and support patients and their families when they are at their most vulnerable. 

It is a privilege and an honor to have the opportunity to establish meaningful, long-term relationships with my patients and their families. I believe in open, honest communication and a patient-centered model when formulating a treatment plan. I look forward to supporting my patients not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. 

Outside of work, I enjoy spin classes, going to the beach, and spending time with family and friends. 

My focus is to provide patients with knowledge and insight into their specific health conditions.

I pride myself on taking a patient-centered approach to building effective care plans that go beyond the diagnosis of my patients. I am a certified Physician's Assistant who graduated from MCPHS University, Boston with a Master's of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS.) My previous experience is in primary care and outpatient cardiology. 

Originally from Western Massachusetts, I moved to the South Shore after graduation. I enjoy spending time with my friends, family, and puppy, Oakes. I am also an avid reader and beach-goer. 

My goal is to educate, support, and empower women to make choices about their health that they feel good!

I believe in providing women with education and options that empower them to make healthy decisions that contribute to better health for themselves and their families. I see the importance and benefit in a model of shared decision making. When I'm not midwifing it up I like to write, read, run, bake and hang with my kids and husband!

I try to have a collaborative approach to disease management and prevention, with an eye towards the most value for the patient's dollar.

I have been lucky enough to be a family physician since 2010. Since then, I have worked to provide cost-effective and compassionate care for my patients. I'm also committed to advocacy for my patients and fellow MD's outside the office, though my role on the Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians. I enjoy traveling, hiking, gardening, and computer gaming, when my young children allow any of them.

I strive to provide excellent care to my patients and to help them understand their conditions through education.

As a rheumatologist, my goal is to take care of my patients as individuals and to work together with them to find the most effective treatment plan. I am passionate about helping patients with rheumatologic conditions find relief with the therapies we have available today. Outside of work, I enjoy playing tennis, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends.

Patients with vascular disease often face many challenges—medical and otherwise. Consequently, I recognize that there are many important aspects to your care.  I also appreciate that having surgery is a major life event. With all of this in mind, I will do my best to provide you with patient-centered, high quality, effective and compassionate care.
