Dr. O'Brien is Medical Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at South Shore Health. 

As a Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician, I am dedicated to caring for women and families navigating high-risk and medically complex pregnancies with expertise, compassion, and individualized attention. 

I strive to integrate evidence-based medicine with a holistic approach that recognizes the physical, emotional, and social factors that shape each patient’s experience. 

I am also committed to advocating for equitable healthcare and improving access and outcomes for marginalized and underserved communities.

I'm a Senior Network Physician practicing at Dana-Farber Community Cancer Care in Weymouth. I am certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Hematology, Medical Oncology and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.  I received my BA from Oberlin College and my MD from Tufts University School of Medicine.  I did my training in Internal Medicine at Boston City Hospital and her Hematology-Oncology training at New England Medical Center. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, music and outdoor pursuits.

My treatment focus is to ensure that each and every patient receives the best care and that their care plan is tailored to meet their individual needs and diagnosis. 

I believe that working with hematology and oncology patients is a calling and it is truly an honor to be a part of each patient’s care. It is extremely important that every patient have a treatment plan that fits their diagnosis and needs, and that this plan is communicated clearly with all members of the treatment team.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, hiking, and walking the beach.

I consider myself lucky to do something that I love. Children and teens are great at reminding adults about the little joys of life while also presenting us with various medical and behavioral challenges. I enjoy navigating these challenges with each family to find the right approach for their child. Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband and three (lovable and challenging) children. I enjoy running with my dog, biking, swimming, skiing, and occasionally a good day of yard work. 

It is an honor to have patients place their trust in my hands. I strive to provide excellent care throughout a patient’s entire hospital stay, be it in the ED, OR, ICU or ward. Outside of work I enjoy spending as much time as possible outside with my family and friends.

Prior to joining Cohasset Pediatrics I practiced pediatrics south of Boston for nine years and was Chief of Pediatrics for four years within that practice.  

I received my undergraduate degree in Drama from New York University’s Tisch School of Arts.  Working as an actress afforded me the opportunity to travel professionally and experience life as a performing artist in New York City, Los Angeles and London. While working in show business was certainly exciting, I found my true calling working as a physician partnering with parents to help provide the best medical care for their children.

When not at work, I love spending time with my husband and two children and enjoy singing when I get the chance.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College and my medical degree from Loyola University in Chicago. Upon graduation from Loyola, I returned to my native Long Island to complete my residency in pediatrics at SUNY Stony Brook. Following an additional year as Chief Resident, I returned to Massachusetts to settle. Professionally, I cherish the privilege of establishing long-term relationships with my patients' families and playing a small role in assisting a child to blossom into a happy, healthy, well-adjusted adult. In my spare time, I enjoy kayaking, practicing yoga, going to the beach, and spending time with my husband and five children.
 

My mission is to provide safe, high quality, patient centered care in collaboration with the patient, their family, and other providers on the care team to promote the patient’s goals of care and overall well-being.

It is a privilege to advance my role as a nurse anesthetist at South Shore Hospital. It is of utmost importance to me that I gain the trust of my patients and involve them in the plan of care with effective communication and transparency. Being an advocate for my patients during the perioperative period is my priority. When I am not at work, I enjoy gardening, hiking, spending time at the beach, and cooking.

My mission is to provide excellent care to all of those in need with compassion and empathy.

I grew up in Duxbury, MA on the South Shore and attended Colby College in Maine. I then obtained my Master of Science degree at Mercer University School of Medicine in Georgia. After securing those credentials I attended MGH Institute of Health Professions for PA school, where I graduated in 2021. I take pride in getting to know each patient, their specific medical condition and then guiding them through difficult medical pathways and stressful circumstances. I enjoy my work/life balance and love traveling, workout classes, skiing, and everything wellness.

Patients with vascular disease often face many challenges—medical and otherwise. Consequently, I recognize that there are many important aspects to your care.  I also appreciate that having surgery is a major life event. With all of this in mind, I will do my best to provide you with patient-centered, high quality, effective and compassionate care.
