My mission is to help patients find out their disease, assist in curing it and live healthy life.

With compassionate care, I love to help people come out of their suffering. I believe that every individual is different so we should respect them and treat appropriately. Good communication is always very crucial. During my free time I love to listen music, play guitar. Also, I like meditation, yoga/ pranayam. However, most importantly I love spending time with my family.

My treatment philosophy is to provide high quality, compassionate, and patient centered care.

Throughout my career at BU Medical Center and South Shore Health, I have divided my time between healthcare administration and direct patient care. Administratively, I have focused on medical education, patient safety and quality improvement. However, my true passion for medicine is driven by the bonds I build with my patients and caring for them throughout life. 

I grew up on the South Shore and attended Holy Cross for college where my concentration was pre-medical sciences and sleep research. During summers in college I worked as an EMT and following college I worked in a collaborative Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School lab studying allergy and asthma. While at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and Lahey Clinic my focus was on primary care internal medicine. In 2006 I was the recipient of the “Patient Care Award” which is Lahey Clinic’s highest physician honor. I joined South Shore Medical Center in 2006.

I strive to build a space where patients feel safe to discuss their health concerns and engage in shared decision-making.

Prior to joining South Shore Health, I had the privilege to train at UMass Family Medicine Residency and complete an additional year of fellowship to also care for patients living with HIV/viral hepatitis at the Family Health Center of Worcester.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, running, gardening, and camping/hiking.

My objective is to help my patients manage and maintain their physical and mental health. 

I truly enjoy working with and helping my patients to be their healthiest versions of themselves. I enjoy the long-term relationships that I have developed. it is important to me to take the time to listen, communicate, and build trust with my patients. 

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, hiking, reading, lifting weights, and spending time with my friends and family.  

I joined the South Shore Hospital medical staff in 2014.  With lifelong ties to the South Shore community, I know the community well and highly value informed and timely communication among medical specialists and primary care to promote and expedite the care of my patients.

In addition to treating patients, I also teach resident doctors in training and volunteer my time with the Podiatry profession's state society.  Ensuring the growth and future of Podiatry, in a complex world of health care, are critical to meet the needs of our population.

I became a Physician Assistant because I love people, medicine, and teamwork. It is a privilege to be a part of someone’s health care team and I aim to do my best for each patient. I care for patient’s 18 and older by following medical guidelines, research and carefully listening to a patient’s history.

Outside of work, I love to spend time with my family, run and read.

Dr. O'Brien is Medical Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at South Shore Health. 

As a Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician, I am dedicated to caring for women and families navigating high-risk and medically complex pregnancies with expertise, compassion, and individualized attention. 

I strive to integrate evidence-based medicine with a holistic approach that recognizes the physical, emotional, and social factors that shape each patient’s experience. 

I am also committed to advocating for equitable healthcare and improving access and outcomes for marginalized and underserved communities.

My goal as a provider is to provide a listening ear so my patients are aware that I care about their concerns. 

I have been a nurse practitioner in Women's health since 2009. I have enjoyed establishing rapport with my patients over these years. Outside of work, I love traveling, going to the beach, cooking, baking, and spending time with my husband and three children.
