South Shore Health has announced that NVNA and Hospice, a 5-star patient experience provider of hospice services in the region, will now be South Shore Health’s preferred provider for hospice care.

The health system will continue its South Shore Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) program, one of the largest providers of Medicare-certified home health care in the state.

“As stewards of a 100-year legacy as a strong, independent health system, our priority is the health and wellbeing of our patients, colleagues, and community,” said Allen L. Smith, MD, MS, President & CEO, South Shore Health. “This agreement with NVNA and Hospice is a tremendous opportunity to work with an outstanding community partner to preserve the high quality and compassionate hospice care our patients expect.”

Also serving its community for more than 100 years, NVNA and Hospice delivers similar services to the same geographic area.

From nursing and rehabilitation services, to a robust palliative program, NVNA and Hospice cares for a daily census of 750 patients in 27 communities. They also own the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham, the first facility regionally to exclusively focus on hospice care.

Smith added, “We make this decision with full confidence that NVNA and Hospice will provide a seamless and caring experience for our hospice patients and their families.”

Renee McInnes, MBA, RN, Chief Executive Officer of NVNA and Hospice commented, “We greatly respect the clinical team at South Shore Health and we are more than prepared to deliver the same level of compassionate care to the patients of Hospice of the South Shore.  The NVNA and Hospice team warmly welcomes families and patients into our care.”

Like South Shore Health, many NVNA and Hospice caregivers choose to live in the South Shore communities they serve.
