South Shore Health, along with MassHire South Shore and School to Careers Partnership, recently held its first two career exploration events of the academic year, hosted by Marshfield and Holbrook High Schools.

With more than 200 students, teachers, and administrators from Blue Hills, Holbrook, MAP Academy, Marshfield, Rockland, and Scituate High Schools in attendance, these events are an excellent way to highlight the many careers and educational paths available in the healthcare field.

Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with comments including:

  • "I never knew how many healthcare career options there are to choose from. Also, not all need to be hands on and touching patients."
  • "I always thought that all healthcare positions took years of education and training, but many can be learned within a short period of time."
  • "I learned a lot about the variety of jobs that I can have and the schooling required for each field/people’s paths to achieve their jobs."
  • "I enjoyed how there was a variety of people in healthcare with different paths and perspectives."
  • "I liked having the chance to ask personal questions that relate to my own dreams."
  • "I really liked how interactive the event was, being able to hear experiences from those specializing in the field."

We’re grateful to all who made this event possible!

We send a special thanks to our colleagues from Clinical Nutrition, CRNA, EMS Sim Lab, Health Express, Human Resources, MRI, Neurodiagnostics, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physician Assistants, Radiology, Rehab Services, Respiratory/Pulmonary, and Ultrasound, as well as representatives from eight area colleges who shared their first-hand knowledge and life experiences with the next generation of healthcare professionals!

We look forward to hosting additional events in the region during the spring semester of the 2024-2025 school year.
