South Shore Health is proud to announce the next chapter for its urgent care services: Health Express, a trusted provider since 2018, will now be known as South Shore Health Urgent Care.

This new name reflects its close connection to the region’s leading health system, offering the same high-quality care communities have relied on for years, now with enhanced features that add to convenient scheduling and more integrated care across the health system.

With six convenient locations across the South Shore, South Shore Health Urgent Care makes it easy for patients to receive prompt, exceptional treatment for illnesses and injuries that don’t require a visit to the Emergency Department.

“The rebranding to South Shore Health Urgent Care signifies more than just a new name—it reflects our commitment to delivering trusted care that’s deeply connected to our health system,” said Allen L. Smith, MD, MS, President and CEO of South Shore Health. “Unlike many standalone centers, our urgent care is seamlessly integrated with South Shore Health’s network of experienced clinicians and providers, ensuring patients receive coordinated, high-quality care from the moment they walk in.”

Patients benefit from direct access to South Shore Health MyChart, a secure, one-stop platform for managing health information, appointments, and communication with care teams.

MyChart’s ‘On My Way’ feature empowers patients to view real-time wait times at urgent care locations, choose the most convenient office, and alert staff before arriving—helping simplify check-in and minimize wait times.

Providers at South Shore Health Urgent Care work closely with the full spectrum of South Shore Health specialists, surgeries, and primary care teams, ensuring that referrals and follow-up care are coordinated from the start.

This means patients receive consistent, high-quality care, whether they need urgent treatment today or ongoing support in the future.

“What makes South Shore Health Urgent Care different is the level of trust and continuity we offer,” said William Tollefsen, MD, Chair, Department of Emergency Medicine, South Shore Health. “Patients are seen by ER-trained providers who are part of a larger, collaborative care team. We’re not a pop-up—we’re a vital part of a comprehensive health system that puts patients first, every step of the way.”
