South Shore Health is accepting applications for the PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program, the health system announced. The program is a full-year, integrated learning experience to prepare pharmacists for a future in clinical pharmacy. 

A PGY-1 pharmacy residency program is a foundational year of training that provides participants exposure to all areas of clinical pharmacy and allows residents to take on the role of clinical pharmacists, providing care to patients in various settings.

Residents will participate in a well-rounded selection of rotations to develop skills in direct patient care, practice management/ leadership, distribution, and teaching. Rotations include Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Infectious Diseases, Pharmacy Operations, Ambulatory Care, Neonatal ICU/Pediatrics, Transitions of Care, and Emergency Medicine.

Over the year, residents will participate in emergency response coverage, develop teaching and communication skills through various presentations, and conduct longitudinal research or a quality improvement project.

Upon completing the program, residents will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education and will be prepared to seek board certification in pharmacotherapy.
