Notice of Virtual Public Forum on Determination of Need Application

South Shore Health plans to submit a Determination of Need application to the Department of Public Health to modernize its existing MRI services and add additional MRI capacity and capabilities within South Shore Hospital, located at 55 Fogg Road in South Weymouth.

Ensuring access to high-quality care, including vital imaging services, is critical. In effort to better serve its patients, South Shore Health has identified the need to update and expand its MRI services from one MRI scanner to two MRI scanners.

The Hospital intends to replace its existing, 15-year old dated 1.5T scanner with a newer model that has updated capabilities and add an additional enhanced 3T MRI scanner with greater strengths to address increased volume needs in the region and provide additional services. By replacing the old MRI scanner and adding a new scanner, it will increase access to care and reduce potential barriers to imaging services.

As part of this process, South Shore Health will be holding a virtual public forum to get the feedback from our community members.

The virtual public forum will be held on Thursday, March 18th from 5:00 to 6:30 PM. Any interested persons are invited to attend and provide comments.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Karen Curran at kcurran2 [at] southshorehealth.org by Tuesday, March 16th.

After you RSVP, you will be provided a zoom link to the virtual public forum.

This is a critical project to allow South Shore Health to continue to ensure access to vital imaging services and enhance the care provided to patients across the region. Please feel free to share this invitation with any interested individuals.
