Every second counts during a health emergency, and South Shore Hospital, part of South Shore Health, is the first line of defense for countless patients facing urgent or life-threatening conditions.
The Digger and Susan Donahue Emergency Department and South Shore Hospital’s state-of-the-art Level II Trauma Center is dedicated to delivering rapid, high-quality care. A leader in emergency medicine, it is one of the busiest emergency departments in the state.
To support growing these essential services, South Shore Health will host its annual Moonlight & Miracles Gala on Friday, October 18, at the Weymouth Club in Weymouth, Mass.
Funds raised during this highly anticipated event will directly benefit emergency services and programs, including the Mobile Integrated Health program, ensuring that patients receive immediate and comprehensive care - whether in the hospital or in the comfort of their homes.

“South Shore Health’s mission is to provide advanced care close to home, and emergency services are at the heart of that mission,” said Allen L. Smith, MD, MS, President and CEO of South Shore Health. “The Moonlight & Miracles Gala raises essential funds to help bolster the resources we need to respond swiftly to the most critical care needs of our community”.
This year’s Gala will once again be supported by a generous sponsorship from Norwell residents Digger and Susan Donahue, long-time advocates for South Shore Health. Their commitment to the health system reflects their belief in its life-saving capabilities, especially in emergent situations. According to the Donahues, these sponsorships are intended to inspire others to join in supporting the hospital’s critical work, ensuring it can continue to serve the region for years to come.
“The generosity and support of our community ensures that South Shore Health can continue to deliver expert, compassionate care minutes from where you live,” Smith added.
More than 500 supporters are expected to attend this year’s gala, which begins at 6 p.m. and will include both live and silent auctions. Guests will enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvre’s, dinner and dessert, followed by a short program emceed by Kiss 108’s radio and TV personality, Lisa Donovan. Attendees can dance the night away with music by the upbeat and energetic band, Hot Mess.
Support the South Shore Health emergency services and programs by attending the gala or making a donation. Your contribution will make a direct impact on the lives of those who depend on South Shore Health every day, in moments of crisis.
