I started practicing primary care at Boston Medical Center in 2001 and was part of the Faculty of Boston University's School of Medicine. In 2010, I transitioned to the Quincy and Braintree area to continue serving as a primary care physician and urgent care provider. I graduated from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and completed my residency in Internal Medicine at the Hospital of Saint Raphael/Yale-New Haven Hospital.

I grew up on the South Shore and attended Holy Cross for college where my concentration was pre-medical sciences and sleep research. During summers in college I worked as an EMT and following college I worked in a collaborative Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School lab studying allergy and asthma. While at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and Lahey Clinic my focus was on primary care internal medicine. In 2006 I was the recipient of the “Patient Care Award” which is Lahey Clinic’s highest physician honor. I joined South Shore Medical Center in 2006.

I am originally from Russia. I underwent undergraduate and medical school education in Texas, and moved to the Boston area for postgraduate training in 2001. 

I have practiced in Dorchester and Weymouth, Massachusetts since 2006. I joined South Shore Medical Center and South Shore Hospital in the Fall of 2017.

I am an experienced pulmonologist who provides care for multiple pulmonary diseases, including COPD, asthma, sarcoidosis, interstitial lung disease, lung nodules and lung cancer.
 

I enjoy caring for children through each stage of development. Promoting lifelong health is important but I also feel confident using medical expertise and resources to support families through acute and chronic illness. Outside of work I love spending time with my husband and two daughters.

M. Reza Afrasiabi, MD

My mission is to provide every patient on the acute care surgery and trauma surgery services with the highest quality of care inside and outside of the operating room.

I was raised in Southern California and moved to Boston to complete my undergraduate degree in mathematics at MIT.  After completing general surgery residency in Chicago, I moved back to Boston to complete fellowships in Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery at the Brigham. I love the outdoors and spend my free time snowboarding and hiking throughout the northeast with my friends and family.

It has been my privilege to practice medicine and to have made a difference in the lives of my patients over the past 21 years. I enjoy the challenges of practicing internal medicine in a hospital setting and working as part of a team with our excellent hospitalist providers, consultants, nursing and ancillary staff. I served as Medical Director of the Hospitalist Department from 2009-2015 and am proud to say that we have an amazing program with dedicated clinicians who genuinely enjoy the care of hospitalized patients and are committed to excellence in their every day work. I enjoy giving back by participating in the Pan Mass Challenge which raises critical funds for cancer research and the Multiple Sclerosis cycling events. I enjoy boating, hiking and camping, and long distance bicycling and, most importantly, spending time with my family.

Treatment of disease begins with a correct diagnosis, using all of the available clinical and laboratory data available. While we do not have the same visibility to the patient as their primary care provider or surgeon, pathologists are an integral part of every patient's health care team, assuring that their physicians have accurate and timely pathology and laboratory data on which to act.  Away from the office, I'm a singer and cellist - you can find your way to my office by following the music.

I take great pride in the opportunity to improve patients' lives. Everyone has their own story and I do not view patients as defined by their age or conditions. I seek to work with the individual in order to help them be better. Outside of work, I enjoy golf and spending time with my family. 

Being a physician is an honor and a privilege I have enjoyed since graduating from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1979.  As my patients know I am interested in your life, your passions and the Orthopaedic issues that frustrate you and how I might be of assistance to you.  Surgery is not always a solution.

I take care of newborn infants and their great grandmothers.  In an era of sub-specialization, I am the "silver haired" General Orthopaedist but have maintained my surgical skills and remain confident in my abilities.  I have been fortunate to have treated multiple generations of my friends and neighbors here on the South Shore and work in a hospital committed to clinical excellence and compassionate care.

I am Director of GK Dermatology, PC, in Weymouth, Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at Brown University, and Professor of Dermatology at Jundiaí Medical School, Brazil. My practice focuses on Medical Dermatology, Phototherapy, and Laser Surgery. I have authored more than 100 articles and chapters and edited 2 monographs and 3 books.
