Colleague Spotlight: Celebrating Tim Routhier!

Each month, South Shore Health gives the Colleague Spotlight Award to a colleague who demonstrates exemplary behaviors, actions, and/or work practices that reflect the values of South Shore Health.

We're proud to celebrate Tim Routhier as our Colleague Spotlight Award recipient for June!

Tim is an Advanced EMT and Team Leader with South Shore Health EMS. 

Along with his roles as an Advanced EMT and Team Leader, Tim serves as a preceptor for all new hires at South Shore Health EMS and oversees the maintenance of the EMS vehicle fleet.

"Tim is an exceptional member of our team," said Eugene Duffy, Director, South Shore Health EMS. "He's an amazing EMT, but a phenomenal human being who's phenomenal at taking care of patients and our community."

With his varied responsibilities, Tim plays a crucial role in a number of different aspects of South Shore Health EMS. He cares for patients, trains new colleagues, and supports South Shore Health-wide patient flow efforts by ensuring that our EMS fleet is in working order.

"Tim has been doing this a long time and is always willing to be a mentor and help new colleagues that come to our team," said Duffy. "More importantly, he teaches people how to be compassionate and caring towards the patients we take care of."

With more than 30 years of experience in the EMS world, Tim loves caring for patients and emphasizes kindness.

"I love treating the patients," he said. "Being kind...that's all it takes sometimes, just [being] kind to a patient. Hold their hand, rub their head, put your hand on their shoulder."

While Tim was proud of his Colleague Spotlight recognition, he was also quick to praise his EMS colleagues.

"I'm very proud to work here...we have such an amazing team, great leadership," he said. "Very humbled that I got the award, but I believe everyone that's been working should have this award because they work so hard."
