Each month, South Shore Health gives the Colleague Spotlight Award to a colleague who demonstrates exemplary behaviors, actions, and/or work practices that reflect the values of South Shore Health.

We're proud to celebrate Tess Regan, RDN, LDN, CNSC as our Colleague Spotlight Award recipient for July!

Tess is an Inpatient Clinical Dietitian at South Shore Hospital.

"There are certain skills you can teach and there are certain skills that just are innate in people," said Emily Pacetti, MS, RD, LDN, CSG, Clinical Nutrition Manager at South Shore Hospital. "Tess is one of those natural, driven go-getters, leaders."

"She comes to work passionate every day," Emily continued. "She really, truly gives her all, every single day."

It was Tess's dedication to a patient with a rare gastrointestinal disorder that led to her nomination for the Colleague Spotlight Award.

"[The patient] had a lot of nutritional complications," said Emily. "Tess really just took it on full force, investigating, on her own time, to sort out what this rare disease was. She would go to the patient every day and follow up. She would hear the patient."

Tess was driven to a career in healthcare by a desire to help people to and put humanity and compassion back in all forms of care.

"I think it's very important for us to work with patients...and explain how important nutrition is," she said. "Our basic needs are food, water, and shelter. It's really important to emphasize the importance of food and nutrition."
