The highly skilled neurosurgery program at South Shore Hospital includes the expertise of surgeons from South Shore NeuroSpine and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The program treats patients with conditions of the nervous system, which includes the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. Our neurological surgery team is dedicated to diagnosing and treating any neurological condition with exceptional precision.

Sophisticated diagnostic services and equipment enable this level of accuracy—and are helpful in identifying the exact problem to assure proper treatment. Additionally, as the first and only Level II Trauma Center in southeastern Massachusetts, we’re equipped to handle brain and spine trauma. Our specially trained surgeons can perform increasingly complex spinal and cranial surgeries, when every second counts.

Conditions We Treat

Some of the most common conditions our neurosurgeons treat include:

  • Cervical spinal stenosis and lumbar spinal stenosis
  • Head trauma (brain hemorrhages, skull fractures, etc.)
  • Spinal cord trauma
  • Spinal disc herniation
  • Tumors of the spine, spinal cord and peripheral nerves
  • Some forms of drug-resistant epilepsy
