At South Shore Health System, we know every woman has a vision for her pregnancy and childbirth experience. Our goal is to provide the experience you want and support you if you or your baby needs a special level of care.
We offer a choice of community-based providers with locations across the South Shore, including more than 40 OB/GYNs and certified nurse midwives, including the OB/GYNs and midwives that practice at The Women’s Center of South Shore Medical Center.
For expectant mothers facing pregnancy-related risks or complications that require a special level of attention, our comprehensive Maternal-Fetal Medicine Program offers high-risk pregnancy services, including the latest in maternal and fetal screening, and consultative services.
When it’s time to welcome your baby, South Shore Hospital makes your childbirth experience as calm and comfortable as possible. We deliver nearly 4,000 infants every year—more than any other hospital in the region. Once you’re ready to bring your baby home, we provide services to ease your transition home, including breastfeeding education and support groups.
And, should your family need it, South Shore Hospital has Southeastern Massachusetts’ only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)—staffed 24 hours a day by on-site, board- certified neonatologists who are dually affiliated with both South Shore Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital, to care for ill or premature infants.
Whether you are a first-time expectant parent or having another child, learn more about how South Shore Health System delivers the experience that your growing family envisions.
