South Shore Hospital, part of South Shore Health, has received its reaccreditation by the Massachusetts Medical Society to provide continuing medical education for physicians through October 18, 2026. South Shore Hospital has achieved the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education's (ACCME) accreditation without interruption since 1975.

“The re-accreditation demonstrates that South Shore Hospital is committed to delivering physicians and medical staff with relevant, effective, practice-based continuing medical education that assist them in maintaining or improving their practice of medicine, said Kimberly Dever, MD, VP Medical Affairs & Chair OB/GYN, Director of Medical Education, South Shore Health. “It also assures the medical community, and our community, that South Shore Hospital delivers education that is evaluated for its effectiveness, meets the high standards of ACCME criteria and is independent of commercial influence.”

A rigorous, multi-level survey, performed by the Massachusetts Medical Society evaluated the hospital on its continuing medical education program based on standards adopted by the ACCME.

The reaccreditation process included auditing four years of program data; writing a detailed self-study report that summarized South Shore Hospital’s programs, processes, and data collection; submitting seven Performance in Practice Structured Abstracts; and attending an in-person interview.
