On Monday, November 15, South Shore EMS opened a new headquarters located at 60 Winter Street in Weymouth, Mass. The 14,453 square foot facility sits directly next door to the Weymouth Fire and Police Departments, helping to enhance the already strong relationship between the three public safety entities.

In an effort to better serve the community of Weymouth, South Shore EMS has opened a new headquarters located at 60 Winter Street.

The 14,453 square foot facility sits directly next door to the Weymouth Fire and Police Departments, helping to enhance the already strong relationship between the three public safety entities.

On Monday, November 15, Ted Langill, chief of staff for Mayor Robert Hedlund, Weymouth Police Chief Richard Fuller, and Weymouth Fire Chief Keith Stark joined Allen L. Smith, MD, MS, President & CEO of South Shore Health, and members of South Shore Health’s EMS team to celebrate and tour the new space.

“South Shore EMS has the rich history of ensuring the best of care for the Town of Weymouth and its residents,” said Langill. “We are proud to partner with this invaluable team and thrilled to witness its growth in our community.”

“This is so exciting for our team,” said Eugene Duffy, Director of South Shore EMS. “This state-of-the-art facility only deepens our roots in Weymouth and will help us continue to care for the people who call Weymouth home.”

The new headquarters will replace South Shore EMS’s temporary space, located at 200 Libbey Industrial Parkway in Weymouth.

The modern facility is another example of South Shore EMS’s growth and impact in the region. In 2018, backed by South Shore Health - the largest community-based health system in Southeastern Massachusetts - South Shore EMS became the main source of delivering 911 emergency care to the Town of Weymouth.

Additionally, its EMS professionals support the health system’s Mobile Integrated Health program, which services more than 7,000 individuals in their South Shore homes or other community settings.

“This highly skilled team not only responds 24/7 to emergent situations in Weymouth, but it helps to ensure that we are doing all we can to provide patients with access to expert health care when and where they need it most,” Dr. Smith said.

The new facility, which serves as the central location for all South Shore EMS professionals, features the following:

  • 9,629 square foot garage for 18 ambulance and emergency response vehicles
  • Four offices and four workstations
  • Gym, sleeping quarters and staff lounge
  • Conference/training room that will be shared with other town and other public agencies
  • Interactive Webex board for digital training
  • 24/7 video intercom & security

South Shore EMS is currently made up of 150 EMS professionals, two simulations laboratories (one mobile and one fixed) and 20 physical ambulances, which care for and transport over 25,000 patients annually.
