Addiction is a disease of isolation. Recovery is about connection.

We are here to connect you to the resources you need to find your path to recovery.

South Shore Health’s office-based addiction treatment (OBAT) program functions like our other primary care-based specialty programs; a team of specially-trained providers works with patients to manage a chronic condition within the walls of a doctor’s office.

Our OBAT program is based at South Shore Medical Center in Norwell.

Whether you are referred to us by a caregiver, or you reach out to us directly, our nonjudgmental, compassionate team is ready to help you to build your connection to a healthier future.

Our Approach

South Shore Health’s office-based addiction treatment providers are trained in the management of substance use disorder. We work with you to develop a treatment plan to meet your specific needs.

We treat several common Substance Use Disorder conditions, including:

  • Alcohol Use Disorder
  • Opioid Use Disorder
  • Misuse of substances like benzodiazepines, cocaine, and other substances

Treatments We Offer:

  • Screening for Substance Use Disorder
  • Behavioral health referrals, including to South Shore Hospital’s bridge clinic or perinatal behavioral health programs
  • Referrals to inpatient or outpatient treatment programs
  • Medications for Opioid Use disorder such as Suboxone® & Vivitrol®
  • Medications for Alcohol Use Disorder such as Vivitrol®

Please note: We do not offer methadone treatment at South Shore Health.

Patients who receive office-based addiction treatment services at South Shore Medical Center must have a PCP that practices at one of South Shore Medical Center’s three primary care offices. Learn more about our primary care providers and locations.

Our Office-Based Addiction Treatment program is part of the Grayken Center for Treatment at South Shore Health, and is based on the model pioneered by Boston Medical Center.
