South Shore VNA Receives Five-Star Rating for Patient Experience
South Shore Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) received a five-star rating for home health agencies – the highest rating achievable – from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on its Home Health Compare website.
The star ratings are meant to reflect patients’ experiences with home health agencies.
The data comes from Home Health Care Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Survey (HHCAHPS).
“This recognition is particularly meaningful because these ratings rely exclusively on feedback from patients and their families,” said Jann Ahern, Vice President of Home & Community Care Operations for South Shore Health’s Home & Community Care Division. “Our VNA strives every day to provide the type of care that our patients have come to expect and deserve. This rating confirms that our patients feel trust and confidence in that care."
When visiting Home Health Compare, individuals can view five different HHCAHPS Survey star ratings for:
- Care of patients
- Communication between providers and patients
- Specific care issues
- Overall rating of car provided by the home health agency
- Survey summary star rating
There are over 11,000 agencies with data on Home Health Compare, and about 6,000 of them now have patient care experience star ratings. CMS established the Home Health Compare (HHC) website on Medicare.gov as a key tool for consumers to use when choosing a home health care provider. It is designed to be an easy-to-access, convenient source of authoritative information on provider quality.
South Shore Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) has been bringing specialized, compassionate care to South Shore communities for more than 100 years. South Shore VNA is one of the state’s largest providers of Medicare-certified home health care.
