The influenza vaccine remains the best way to protect you and your family from the flu virus.

According to CDC recommendations, all individuals 6 months of age or older should receive the flu vaccine each year.

South Shore Health is prepared to meet the demand for flu vaccines this season.

For current South Shore Medical Center patients, scheduling for weekend flu vaccine clinics opens on Wednesday, September 6. Further details on scheduling can be found below.

Individuals who are not South Shore Medical Center patients can find information on flu vaccines at Health Express below.

South Shore Medical Center's Kingston and Norwell locations will offer drive-thru flu vaccine clinics on select Saturdays and Sundays in October and November:

  • Kingston: October 7 & 15
  • Norwell: October 7, 14, 21, & 28; November 5

All clinics will run from 9 AM to 2 PM.

Appointments are required for all flu vaccines at South Shore Medical Center. Walk-in flu vaccines are not available.

Alternate accommodations will be made for patients who are getting a flu vaccine for the first time, have egg allergies, or have had adverse reactions to injections in the past.

If MyChart is not an option for you, please call the Flu Line at 781-261-4756 to schedule your appointment.

For patients of South Shore Medical Center Quincy

Quincy patients are encouraged to book appointments at the drive-thru clinics in Kingston or Norwell.

Additionally, Quincy patients can receive their flu vaccine as part of a standard office visit in Quincy. Patients from SSMC Quincy can also visit their nearest Health Express or local retail pharmacy to receive their flu shot.

Separate flu clinics will not be held at South Shore Medical Center Quincy this season.

Pediatric Booster Shots

Booster shots are recommended for pediatric patients aged 6 months to 8 years who are receiving the vaccine for the first time, or for patients who have previously only received one dose of the vaccine.

Booster shots must be scheduled at least 30 days from the initial vaccine.

Health Express offers walk-in flu vaccines for patients age 18 years and older at all locations. High-dose flu vaccines are available for patients age 65 years and older.

Pediatric flu vaccines are not available at Health Express.
