South Shore Health System’s 29th annual Golf Classic raises more than $270,000 in support of critical care services on the South Shore

South Weymouth, Mass. – More than 280 business leaders and supporters of South Shore Health System “teed-off” at Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth to help raise money for the second phase of South Shore Hospital’s critical care program.

2018 Golf Classic Committee

The South Shore Health System annual Golf Classic, held on May 21, generated more than $270,000 – with all proceeds earmarked for the organization’s critical care platform, including construction of a new intermediate care unit.

“This event always provides a great day of golf, but it’s most important purpose is raising money that will help our families, friends and neighbors receive exceptional critical care, close to home and their loved ones,” said Matt Havens, Partner, Global Vision Advisors and Chairman of the Golf Classic.

The critical care program at South Shore Health System is led by a superb team of board-certified intensivists, pulmonologists, surgeons and anesthesiologists. To mirror this clinical excellence, the organization recently built The Richard and Joann Aubut Critical Care Unit, a state-of-the-art 24-bed CCU which opened in October of 2017.

The project is continuing with the renovation of the hospital’s previous CCU to become an Intermediate Care Unit. The new unit will provide a space for patients who are too ill for a general Medical/Surgical floor, yet do not need the intensive level of care found in the CCU.

“It is vital for South Shore Health System to expand its Critical Care platform to manage the increasing number of acute care patients here in our community,” explained Gene E. Green, President/CEO of South Shore Health System. “Thank you for all of the generous support from Golf Classic participants and sponsors, who continue to put our patients first.”
