South Shore Health System to hold 7th annual event to support Home Care

Weymouth business owner and home care nurses to be recognized

South Weymouth, Mass., (05/15/2018) - Providing care in the comfort and familiarity of one’s home for a variety of medical needs is why South Shore Health System’s Luminaria has become such an important annual event. On Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy, Mass., tribute will be paid to exceptional individuals who have made an impact on Home Care within the community. This year, Robert and Donna Pineau and the South Shore VNA Parent Child Health Team will be honored.

Home Care is part of a movement to lower health care costs, minimize complications, avoid hospital readmissions, and reach recovery goals – all while improving a person’s overall quality of life. Medical professionals know the comforts of one’s home, along with education and patient-caregiver partnerships to promote healing, is fast replacing the standard practice of treating illness in the hospital.

South Shore Health System will celebrate Duxbury, MA residents Bob and Donna Pineau at its June 14, 2018 Luminaria. Bob is the President & CEO of Electro Switch Corp., a company that has been a consistent and generous supporter and one of our longest standing President’s Circle members. Bob serves on the System Board and is Chair of the Finance Committee. Donna has had a nursing career of over 40 years with a number of years serving in varied roles in home care. Donna truly understands the value of home care as the best environment for the patient’s healing and wellness.

“Both Donna and I are honored to be selected,” said Bob Pineau. “To receive an award at Luminaria and to be recognized by others in our community is certainly humbling. It makes you feel like you’re doing something right.”

The Parent Child Health Team will also be honored for the care they provide young patients and their families. Nurse Manager, Joyce Cox, RN, who has been with our Home Care division for 38 years, will accept the award on the team’s behalf.

“It is nice for our entire team to be recognized and appreciated for the work we are all so passionate about,” said Michele Solari, RN. “Our team relies heavily on each other and has formed a strong bond. Our work is hard, but it is incredibly rewarding, because all we want is what is best for the children and their families.”
