This supportive group for new mothers provides assistance for the early stages of breastfeeding. The group is facilitated by nurses certified in lactation counseling. You do not need to have given birth at South Shore Hospital to attend.
Access a warm network of experienced lactation consultants who can offer guidance on:
- latches
- milk supply
- pumping
- lip and tongue ties
- inverted or flat nipples
- introducing a bottle
- biting
- teething
- weight gain
- expected wet and dirty diaper numbers
- thrush
- nursing positions
- nursing mom nutrition
- breastfeeding while ill
- tandem nursing
- cluster feeding
At each session, mothers will weigh their freshly diapered baby, nurse, and then weigh the baby again to see how much their baby takes in one feed. Only mothers are allowed in the room.
