About This Event
Cemeteries across the South Shore are a fascinating chronicle of our local history, changes in the way people mourned their loved ones, and changes to our burial customs over time.
They tell the stories of our area's earliest inhabitants — including the Native Wampanoag and settlers dating back thousands of years.
Join the Friends of South Shore Health and Stephen C. O'Neill, Executive Director of the Hanover Historical Society, for this fun, informative virtual discussion on the history hidden in cemeteries in our area.
This event will take us from small graveyards and family plots to modern, municipal cemeteries to explore the various cemetery types and styles, as well as the many forms of burials and memorials unique to this region of the country.
This discussion will be held virtually via Zoom. It is free and open to the public.
Registration is required. To register, please call 781-624-8520 or email Barbara Wahlstrom (bwahlstrom [at] southshorehealth.org) or Cathy Moore (cmoore [at] southshorehealth.org).
Registrants will receive a Zoom link via email prior to the event.
