Two extraordinary champions for the health and well-being of our community will be honored at the 6th annual Luminaria, set for Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 6:00 pm at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy.
Luminaria is a special dinner event designed to raise support for South Shore Health System’s Home and Community Care division and celebrate innovation and dedication by awarding “Home Care Champions” unique Luminaria medallions. This year’s recipients are:
Both Herb and Meg are well known and highly respected leaders in our region. Herb has provided incredible support for both home care and our entire health system for decades. Meg has worked tirelessly on behalf of patients and their families promoting Home Health services nationally and statewide. In one way or another, everyone in our region using health care services has benefitted from Herb and Meg’s efforts.
“I am committed to people who are needy and I get self-satisfaction out of helping them,” Herb said. “One of the greatest joys of my career has been working with South Shore Hospital. It’s been a magnificent organization. I am humbled to be honored at Luminaria.”
“I’m extremely grateful,” added Meg. “I’m willing to accept this award with both humility and pride because it gives my colleagues in home care the opportunity to be highlighted for the important role they play in the delivery of health care today.”
Luminaria focuses on home care services, which play a vital role in lowering overall health care costs, minimizing complications, preventing multiple hospital stays for patients and improving the quality of life for the people of our region. “Providing care in the comfort and familiarity of one’s home for a variety of medical needs is why Luminaria, in support of home care, has become such an important event,” said Gene E. Green, MD, MBA, President and CEO, South Shore Health System. “We are excited to have two great honorees to celebrate this year, Meg and Herb.”
South Shore Health System’s highly-skilled team of home care professionals works hard to assure a safe home environment, proper management of medications and support for families caring for loved ones at home – from the beginning of life to the end.
